Cookie Policy

Version 1.0 — Effective 7 February 2025

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites work properly, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the site. Cookies are widely used across the internet and are an essential part of how modern websites function.

2. How we use cookies

CaseMate uses only strictly necessary (essential) cookies. We do not use any advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies. This means we do not track you across other websites, build marketing profiles, or share cookie data with advertisers.

3. Cookies we use

Cookie name Purpose Type Duration
casemate_session Maintains your login session and keeps you authenticated as you navigate the application Essential 2 hours (or until you close your browser)
XSRF-TOKEN Protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks — a security measure that prevents malicious websites from making requests on your behalf Essential 2 hours
remember_web_* Keeps you logged in between browser sessions if you select "Remember me" during login Essential 30 days

4. Local storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage for a small number of preferences:

Key Purpose
cookieConsent Remembers that you have acknowledged the cookie notice so it is not shown again

5. Third-party cookies

CaseMate does not set any third-party cookies. We do not use:

  • Google Analytics or any analytics tracking service
  • Facebook Pixel or any social media tracking
  • Advertising cookies or retargeting pixels
  • Any other third-party tracking technologies

Our payment providers (Stripe and GoCardless) may set their own cookies during the checkout process. These are governed by their respective privacy policies.

6. Cloudflare security cookies

Our website is protected by Cloudflare, which may set a cookie (__cf_bm) for bot detection and security purposes. This is a strictly necessary cookie used to distinguish between humans and bots, and it does not track you for advertising purposes.

7. Managing cookies

Since we only use essential cookies, there is no option to reject them — they are required for the Service to function. If you block these cookies in your browser settings, some or all features of CaseMate may not work correctly.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device
  • Delete individual or all cookies
  • Block cookies from specific or all websites
  • Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is set

For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit aboutcookies.org.

8. Changes to this policy

If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (e.g., for analytics), we will update this policy, obtain your consent before setting those cookies, and provide clear opt-in/opt-out controls.
